Bethel Park kicked off its indoor track and field season with a strong performance at the Youngstown State University Indoor Track and Field Meet, showcasing talent and determination across multiple events.
Senior Martin Devine set the tone for the day, qualifying for the Adidas Indoor Track Nationals in March, which will take place in Virginia Beach, Va. In the Long Jump, Devine secured an impressive eighth-place finish and continued to demonstrate his athletic prowess in the high jump, where he placed fourth. His consistent performance underscored his status as a key athlete for the Black Hawks this season.
The Black Hawks also saw success in their relay teams. The boys' 4x200m relay squad of Jackson Friday, Jack Lester, Xavier Jackson, and Joey Levis finished fifth. Meanwhile, the girls' 4x200m relay team secured fourth place, with standout performances from Iyonna Sloan, Francesca Blakovec, Autumn Flowers, and Delaney Boes.
In the distance events, the boys' 4x400m relay team also placed fifth with contributions from Friday, Finn Jackson, Levis, and Finn O'Neill, again demonstrating their versatility. The girls' 4x800m relay team earned a commendable fifth-place finish, featuring Lily Yester, Makayla O'Neill, Jenna Benlock, and Mikayla Watson.
Other notable performances included Brady McCarthy, who placed fourth in the boys' pole vault, and Autumn Flowers, who finished eighth in the girls' 60m Hurdles, showcasing the depth of talent among Bethel Park's athletes.
