Independence Middle School (IMS) acknowledges and celebrates outstanding student achievements across various categories monthly through its Student of the Month program.
The school’s dedicated staff chooses students who have excelled academically or in service to the school and community and who have demonstrated positive character, leadership, and other exceptional qualities.
Each of IMS’s ten teams selects a student who has excelled in one or more of these criteria. The honorees are then awarded a certificate and have their pictures prominently displayed in the school's main hall. However, the program goes beyond mere acknowledgment, providing students with specific feedback on why they were chosen.
The December 2024 IMS Students of the Month were Zoe Fortier (Central Office and Counseling Department), Vincent Cavagnaro (Music), Cody Peterson (Unified Arts), Noah Price (Foreign Languages), Sophia Viola (Physical Education and Health), Rachel Weiss (Team Unity), Arav Ramani (Valor), Annabella Laffey (Freedom), Emma Nelson (Liberty), and Amelia Girasek (Integrity).
