Bethel Park Resident Christine Danchik to Shine in Times Square for National Down Syndrome Society Event

Bethel Park's Christine Danchik will take center stage in New York City’s Times Square on Saturday, September 7, as part of the annual National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Times Square Video presentation. This event features over 500 photographs of children, teens, and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 states and 14 countries and is a powerful display of diversity and inclusion. The images will be showcased on two large screens in the heart of Times Square, above the Dos Caminos restaurant in Father Duffy Square.

Christine’s photo was selected from nearly 3,000 entries in the NDSS worldwide call for submissions. Thanks to the support of ClearChannel Outdoor, her image will light up Times Square, highlighting the beauty and potential of individuals with Down syndrome. The presentation will be livestreamed on the NDSS Facebook page from 9:30 to 10:30 AM ET on September 7.

The Times Square Video presentation also serves as the kickoff for the New York City Buddy Walk®, which will take place at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park later that day. The Buddy Walk® has been a New York City tradition since 1995 and is part of the larger National Buddy Walk® Program. With over 150 Buddy Walk® events held annually in communities across the country and select international locations, the program continues to raise awareness and support for those with Down syndrome.
