Montour Trail Race 2024 Attracts Nearly 300 Runners

Nearly 300 elementary school runners from Benjamin Franklin and George Washington elementary schools participated in the 13th annual Montour Trail Race.

Organized by dear friends and running enthusiasts Mrs. Theresa Vescovi (Franklin) and Mrs. Tammy Williams (Washington), the race always occurs on the strip of the Montour Trail that is adjacent to Washington Elementary School.

The one-mile fun run concluded with healthy snacks for all, funded by a generous $250 grant from P3R Pittsburgh, which organizes the Kids Marathon in May.

The event marked the culmination of a month-long practice for some students, leading up to the upcoming Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon on May 4 on the North Shore.

Congratulations to this year's fastest runners:

Boys:
First Place, Aiden Glover
Second Place, Jack Suomela
Third Place, Ben Reichard

Girls:
First Place, Lydia Faust
Second Place, Claire Allshouse
Third Place, Lyla Sirochman
