Bethel Park Rotary Club Recognizes Outstanding Student of the Month: Alyssa Headley

Bethel Park High School senior Alyssa Headley was honored as the April Student of the Month by the Bethel Park Rotary Club at The Garden Restaurant on Gardenville Road. Alyssa, recognized for her exceptional academic performance, leadership, and community service, boasts a remarkable 4.116 weighted GPA and active involvement in numerous school clubs and activities. She is also a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).

Headley participates in the high school’s Best Buddies program in her free time, which promotes one-on-one friendships between students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those without disabilities. She is also a member of the school’s indoor unified bocce team, which pairs students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those without disabilities as peers and teammates.

“I have never considered Best Buddies or Unified Bocce an obligation,” she said. “Those boys and girls are my friends; they help me as much as I help them.”

On the volunteer front, Hadley plays a significant role in St. Valentine’s Catholic Church’s Team Leadership Corps. This volunteer organization strategizes and executes activities like bake sales and collections for various causes. This year alone, Team Leadership Corps has raised funds for the Ronald McDonald Toy Forest, Prison Books Project, Kane Community Living Center, Disabled Veterans of America, St. Joseph House of Hospitality (homeless shelter), and the Red Door Food Pantry. They have also supported Catholic Charities’ Rosalia Pregnancy and Parenting Support and its Refugee Assistance Program, showcasing her leadership skills and community involvement.

Headley also works as a hostess and busser at Ma and Pa’s Country Kitchen.

Alyssa's parents are Christina and Chad Headley.  She has a younger sister, Gulianna, a sixth grader at Neil Armstrong Middle School.

Headley will attend Robert Morris University in the fall, where she plans to major in biology.
