Bethel Park Alumna Huber '20 Speaks to PA Lawmakers About Water Safety Bill

In April, Bethel Park alumna Claudia Huber ‘20 helped present a water safety bill backed by Representative Natalie Mahalik to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in Harrisburg.

Bill No. 2209 would require signage for all dams regardless of classification and adequate exit points between the signage and the dam. It honors the memory of the late Mr. Jon Gentile, a former Bethel Park High School teacher who died tragically in May 2022 in a kayaking accident.

Huber, Gentile’s niece and a senior at Allegheny College presented the bill as part of her final presentation for the House of Representatives Legislative Fellowship Program.

The bill will now enter the legislative process and is expected to be considered by the state senate sometime this summer.
