April 18: Futures Fair

Representative Dan Miller will join the AIU and several area high schools to co-host a groundbreaking Futures Fair, offering a unique platform for young individuals and families to explore transition opportunities beyond high school. The event, slated for Thursday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beth El Congregation, 1900 Cochran Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15220, promises to be a departure from the traditional transition fair.

In collaboration with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and co-hosted by Mt. Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Keystone Oaks, Bethel Park, and South Fayette School Districts, the fair will feature a comprehensive range of resources encompassing post-high school education, workforce integration, independent living, social engagement, and recreational avenues.

A highlight of the event will be a panel discussion led by the AIU. Young individuals will share personal anecdotes of their successful transition journeys, offering invaluable insights into effective strategies and potential challenges.

Moreover, attendees can look forward to a special showcase of art and music crafted by local artists from the disability and mental health community. The event aims to foster inclusivity, break down stigma, and provide a platform for enjoyment.
