Benjamin Franklin Elementary School Principal Mrs. Teresa Doumont spoke to the fourth graders in Mrs. KD Meucci’s class last week about folklore in her native Hawaii.
The class focused primarily on Pele, the Hawaiian volcano deity, an elemental force, and the creator of these volcanic landscapes. According to tradition, Pele is embodied by the lava and natural forces associated with volcanic eruptions.
