NAMS Welcomes Miracle-Volpe as its New Principal

The Bethel Park Board of School Directors unanimously approved the appointment of Mrs. Lisa Miracle-Volpe as the new principal at Neil Armstrong Middle School.

Miracle-Volpe comes to Bethel Park from the McKeesport Area School District, where she is in her second year as the principal of Francis McClure Elementary School. She was the school’s assistant principal for the six years prior. Miracle-Volpe served as an educator for 12 years before transitioning to her administrative role,

Throughout her career, the Duquesne University (’04, ’07, ’12) alumna has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership capabilities, having gained extensive experience in various areas during the pandemic, including professional development and addressing the challenges of virtual learning and in-person scheduling and safety.

One notable achievement under Miracle-Volpe’s leadership was transforming the school library into a Flux Space for students, showcasing her commitment to providing an enriching and innovative learning environment.

"I am excited to bring my skills and passion to Neil Armstrong Middle School, where I hope to contribute to an environment where students can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally," said Miracle-Volpe.

Miracle-Volpe oversees a kindergarten through fifth grade building of 700 students, three administrators, and over 100 staff members. Her responsibilities have encompassed various crucial tasks, including family and student relationship building, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, event planning, creating and sustaining partnerships with external organizations, discipline, professional development, public relations, and technology management.

The North Huntingdon resident brings a passion for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment and a strong belief in the importance of effective administration. She believes in three essential elements for successful school leadership:

  • Vision: Miracle-Volpe emphasizes the significance of a clear vision for the school's future, involving continuous feedback from all stakeholders to guide the vision and future planning processes throughout each school year.

  • Collaborative Curriculum Development and Instructional Support: She highlights the role of planning professional development that is timely, data-informed, and supportive of the overall vision. This requires a commitment to continuous improvement by evaluating school policies, programs, and procedures.

  • School Climate and Culture: Miracle-Volpe stresses the importance of creating a positive and inclusive school climate. She advocates for a safe and welcoming environment that celebrates diversity and values the holistic growth of each student.

Bethel Park superintendent Dr. James Walsh proudly welcomes the veteran administrator to her new school district.

Volpe joins our Bethel Park administrative team,” he said.  “It was clear during our conversations
