School Board Seeking a New Member

The Bethel Park Board of School Directors is looking for a new member to replace Dan Grzybek, who is leaving the board to accept a seat on the Allegheny County Council.

The Bethel Park Board of School Directors is accepting letters of interest to fill an anticipated open seat on the School Board beginning no sooner than December 8, 2023.

District residents wishing to be considered should contact L. Douglas McCausland, Board Secretary at 301 Church Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102, or via email at [email protected] to receive an application package.

Completed applications will include (1) a letter of interest and (2) a completed application. The Board Secretary must receive these items by December 5, 2023, at 4 p.m.

The Pennsylvania School Code outlines the following requirements for candidates wishing to fill school board vacancies: (1)  Must be a citizen; (2) Must be at least 18 years old; (3) Must be of good moral character; and (4) Must be a resident of the school district for at least one year before the date of election or appointment.  The School Board will review all applications for the positions. The new Board members will serve a two-year term.

The application is a response to all three of these questions:
1)  Can you briefly introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in serving as a school director?
2)  What experience or qualifications do you bring to the board that would contribute to improving the education system?
3)  What are the biggest challenges and issues facing Bethel Park schools?  What solutions do you envision?
